Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Global Segment Strategy, will lead global market assessment, segmentation, intelligence gathering, strategy development, and commercial execution planning for the given segment. The successful leader will bring strong business acumen, market intelligence, sales, and analytic skills on a global scale to drive growth. Working collaboratively with colleagues from around the globe, the Senior Manager, Global Segment Strategy, will drive market strategies that ensure growth and expansion plans are realized.  This role will support and drive product portfolio development based on customer/market needs and will work with the regional leaders to enable tactical implementation plans

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop and maintain global market assessment and understanding through active participation in the aligned industry. Work collaboratively across the global organization to gather primary market intelligence and then coordinate secondary market intelligence. Develop and maintain strong customer and industry relations to assure the vitality of the business. 
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert on segment insights, trends, and segment products providing competitive intelligence and positing guidance.  
  • Ensure market segmentation to appropriate level to clearly understand existing market size and dynamics, company share, competitive dynamics and position, and opportunity potential. 
  • Help to develop and implement strategies and tactics for profitable sales growth by sub-segment and customer prioritization across business, functions, and regions 
  • Facilitate implementation of the market strategy implementation – leading price, place, product, and promotional activities, working cross-functionally with sales, technical, operations, and others to implement. 
  • Develop and validate value propositions to provide strong leadership and oversight for market segment pricing globally.  
  • Support the sales organization by building and driving the opportunity pipeline. Leverage existing capabilities to drive growth.  
  • Translate the Voice of the Customer into clearly defined project plans.  
  • Assist, advise and guide the Wood Coatings/Building Products Global Leadership Team on segment trends and issues. 
  • Assure the product portfolio is optimized to align with customer/market needs and industry trends to enable new business opportunities.  
  • Working as part of a project or gatekeeper team, ensure clear market deliverables are defined and being addressed as part of the product development project. 
  • Globalize market and customer plans and drive search and reapply efforts to identify short-term growth opportunities aligned with the long-term plan.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in area of Business Management or Marketing preferred 
  • 10+ years’ experience in global marketing, commercial roles, or product management, relevant Axalta experience will also apply. 
  • Cross-functional and cross-industry experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-region environment 
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with the ability to collect and analyze data and communicate insights effectively 
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work well and influence others 
  • Highly motivated and results-driven with excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to challenge status quo and creative problem solving 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Solid organization skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
