Job Responsibilities:

• Load a variety of paint qualities with unique binder systems, maintaining the highest level of accuracy for color reproducibility
• Handle and spray 2K basecoats and clearcoats – must be able to wear respirator in order to handle isocyanate components
• Spray samples using a handspray gun, ecopainter, and semitech – using several different guns and applicators
  • Be able to manipulate program settings to achieve film and color properties
• Handle a changing environment with fluctuating priorities in order to best meet customer needs
• Use colorimetry software such as AxCS and Color Metrics, with the ability to follow best practices for formula standardization
• Use lab equipment to quantify color and appearance, including the Byk Wavescan Dual, Byk Mac i, Byk Acquire Quantum EFX, Byk Tri-Gloss meter, and an elcometer.
• Must be able to pass a hue test
• Maintain inventory of commonly used CV Color-specific ingredients and order as necessary
• Use computer programs like Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel to record and track color data
• Actively participate in lab cleaning and 5S initiatives

Requirements:

• Minimum HS diploma/GED AND 1 year certificate from college/technical school or 1 year related laboratory experience
• Strong demonstrated computer, math, and analytical skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to communicate with other team members and work together to hand off priorities from shift to shift
• 5+ years of color shading experience required

• Ability to work well in both self-managed and team environment
• Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

The Research and Development Laboratory Technician provides support to Chemists and Engineers in the research and development process leading to the creation of new coating products. To strengthen our organization, we are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to provide support for Axalta R&D and commercial operations.
